But these hands-on skills need to be supported by soft skills such as language proficiency, the ability to read and interpret information, entrepreneurial skills, and even proficiency in other languages like French," he noted.Takoradi Technical University’s first Professor, Evang. Anthony Joe Turkson, has retired after 60 years of service to the country and 31 years of career with TTU.
Evang. Prof. Anthony Joe Turkson who is a Professor of Probability and Mathematical Statistics, started his career at TTU in 1994 as a Senior Superintendent when the institution was a second cycle institution.With hard work, Prof. Turkson, served in many capacities and rose through the ranks to become the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences till his retirement. He taught various courses, supervised students at all levels and served as a facilitator at workshops. Evang. Prof. Turkson published widely in local, national and international refereed journals.As the first Professor to come from Takoradi Technical University, his retirement and 60th birthday party was marked with a lot of funfair and attended by the University Management and Staff, retirees as well as family and friends.The Vice Chancellor of TTU, Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun, who led the cutting of his birthday cake, on behalf of the University commended Evang. Prof. Turkson for his selfless contribution to the vision and mission of TTU.
