President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to reclaim ungoverned areas—especially forests—from terrorists, bandits, and other criminal groups threatening national security.
Speaking during a state dinner with Katsina State elders and leaders at the Government House on Friday night, Tinubu assured that modern surveillance systems and advanced technology would be deployed to combat insecurity, including terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry.
The President’s address, disclosed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, emphasized that national security remains a top priority. “Security is a nationwide challenge, not just a regional one,” Tinubu said. “We must invest in technology and reclaim our forests. Without security, investment will remain elusive. Investors will avoid places plagued by insecurity.”
He added that collaboration with state and local governments is essential to address these threats effectively.
Highlighting the nation’s economic progress, Tinubu cited positive growth indicators as signs of recovery driven by recent policy reforms. He also announced plans to upgrade the Katsina airport, aiming to create jobs and boost the region’s economy.
“We are considering upgrading the airport infrastructure to support cargo and passenger services,” he stated. “This will provide opportunities and promote local development.”
On humanitarian support, Tinubu promised that victims of terror attacks would receive the necessary assistance to rebuild their lives.
Governor Dikko Radda informed the gathering about the state’s security measures, including the establishment of a local intelligence network to support national efforts. He also revealed details about the airport expansion project, expected to cost N54 billion and generate around 2,700 direct jobs.
Former Governor Aminu Bello Masari expressed gratitude to Tinubu for appointing two ministers from Katsina and reaffirmed his support for the President’s leadership. “You have the political will and the courage to make tough decisions,” Masari said. “Real leadership is tested during difficult times, and I believe in your ability to deliver.”
Tinubu concluded by urging continued cooperation between federal and state institutions to ensure long-term peace and prosperity across the nation.
