The Ghana Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national football team, have officially opened their training camp in Morocco as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). With 19 players already present and more expected soon, the Queens are focused on team building, fitness, and tactics under the guidance of Coach Kim Björkegren.
The two-week camp is taking place at Ziaida Palace Hotel in Benslimane, Morocco. It’s designed to give players top-class facilities, focus on team bonding, and simulate match conditions before the tournament.
Coach Kim Björkegren has named a provisional squad of 24 players, combining experienced stars like Princella Adubea with younger talents. The goal is simple: build a strong, united team ready to challenge Africa’s best.
The Black Queens will open their WAFCON 2025 campaign on July 7, facing defending champions South Africa in a crucial Group B encounter. The team will continue training in Oujda before the opener.
Closed-door practice games will be used to fine-tune strategies and formations before the competition begins.
The 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025, featuring 12 national teams. Ghana has been placed in Group B alongside:

All eyes will be on stadiums in Rabat, Casablanca, Oujda, Berkane, and Mohammedia. Ghana’s group matches will be played in Oujda, with the stadium expected to be packed with fans.
