Former President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated the importance of sound economic policies designed to empower entrepreneurs and cultivate a business-friendly environment in Ghana. In a reflective post on Facebook, Mahama shared his thoughts after attending the Easter festivities in Kwahu, expressing admiration for the entrepreneurial spirit and resilience demonstrated by local business leaders.

Mahama took a moment to acknowledge the commitment of business executives, CEOs, and heads of financial institutions in the region, thanking them for their unwavering dedication to fostering economic growth in Ghana. He noted that such entrepreneurial efforts play a crucial role in the country’s development, creating jobs and boosting the local economy.

One of the key highlights of Mahama’s message was his emphasis on the need for policies that actively support the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which he believes are vital for the nation’s prosperity. He stated that entrepreneurs require an environment where they can thrive and achieve tangible success, and that the right policies are essential to unlocking these opportunities.

As part of his vision for the future of Ghana, Mahama expressed his determination to “reset” the country’s economic framework, focusing on the creation of a stable and supportive environment that would enable businesses to flourish. He made it clear that supporting entrepreneurship is not just about creating jobs, but also about building a robust local economy that can stand on its own in the global market.

Mahama’s call for effective policies is timely, as Ghana continues to face economic challenges that require innovative solutions. According to Mahama, fostering entrepreneurship is an essential part of rebuilding and modernising the economy, and the government must take proactive steps to ensure that businesses are given the resources and support they need to succeed. He highlighted that the government’s role should be to remove barriers that hinder the growth of businesses, especially SMEs, and provide the necessary infrastructure to support their expansion.

With the increasing globalisation of markets and the rise of digital technologies, Mahama’s message also touched on the importance of positioning Ghana’s entrepreneurs to compete in the international arena. He believes that the government should help businesses access new markets and encourage innovation that can drive economic growth.

The former president’s comments have sparked discussions about how Ghana can harness the potential of its growing entrepreneurial sector. Many believe that Mahama’s approach could provide the right kind of momentum for businesses to thrive, not only in Kwahu but across the entire country. His vision of a “reset” for Ghana’s economy is one that many hope will pave the way for long-term sustainability, helping to build a strong foundation for the next generation of entrepreneurs in Ghana.
