Man United are looking to sign Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen before turning their attention to Ajax winger Antony Janssen
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly hoping to complete the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona THIS WEEK.
And it's been reported that manager Erik ten Hag will then look to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer before turning his attention to Ajax winger Antony.
Dutch midfielder De Jong is widely regarded as the Red Devils' top target, with talks with the Blaugrana now at an advanced stage.
A £65 million offer with bonuses is said to be in the works, with United confident of acceptance.
According to The Times, United could make the announcement by the end of the week after making huge progress in the deal.
Ten Hag's priority is central midfield, according to the news outlet, and he will then pursue free agent Christian Eriksen. However, the Danish playmaker is also wanted by Brentford, where he spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on a short-term contract.
The 30-year-old is expected to make a decision on his future soon as he considers a move to Old Trafford.
Should United sign De Jong and Eriksen, The Times reports that Ten Hag will look to raid former employers for Brazilian forward Antony.
They have insisted that the 22-year-old will not be cheap, with the Eredivisie champions demanding a fee of around £68.9 million.
Nonetheless, United are hesitant to pay that much money and will negotiate a lower fee with Ajax.
Ten Hag's next target is a defender, and he could once again raid Ajax for centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Jurrien Timber.
However, they are competing with Arsenal for Martinez after the Gunners made a second bid of £34.5 million for the 24-year-old.
Along with the Ajax duo, Villarreal's Pau Torres is said to be a candidate, though the Spaniard has stated that he is content at his current club.
United is aware that they must offload players in order to fund new signings, with Anthony Martial reportedly being put up for sale.
Andreas Pereira is another target for United with Fulham recently lodging an £11m offer.
And United are also willing to listen to offers for Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Eric Bailly
