Newcastle sign keeper Pope from Burnley

Newcastle marked England goalkeeper Nick Pope from Burnley in an arrangement worth a revealed £10 million on Thursday.

Pope concurred a four-year contract with Eddie Howe's side subsequent to passing a clinical on Tyneside.

The 30-year-old, who has eight England covers, set up a good foundation for himself as one of his nation's top guardians during 141 association appearances for the Clarets.

Newcastle moved for Pope after Burnley were consigned to the Championship last season.

"Presently I'm here, I can hardly stand by to get everything rolling," Pope said.

"The arrangement has required a long time to happen as expected, yet it moved past the line actually rapidly and I'm happy to be here and I'm truly anticipating stalling out into it."

Pope will give fierce opposition to Newcastle's ongoing best option guardian Martin Dubravka.

He kept nine Premier League clean sheets last season yet couldn't keep Burnley from getting out of the first class.

Pope's quick re-visitation of the Premier League works on his possibilities making Gareth Southgate's England crew for the World Cup in Qatar in November.

"Scratch is an outstanding Premier League and worldwide level goalkeeper, so I'm exceptionally satisfied to major areas of strength for add to a vital position," Howe said.

"There has been a great deal of interest in him from different clubs this late spring, so I might want to thank our proprietors and everybody in the background for stretching out us beyond the opposition."
