Nana Obiri Boahen, a former Bofoakwa Tano management member, claims that the Date Rush program on TV3 is more enticing to advertisers than the Ghana Premier League.
This statement was made by the deputy national secretary and lawyer of the ruling New Patriotic Party in reference to the rapid decrease in Ghana Premier League standards.
He claims that the league's standards and the poor quality of the football discourage potential sponsors from supporting the league.
He asserted that because authorities are acting improperly, sponsors will now favor TV3's Date Rush program over the Ghana Premier League.
"If the leagues in Tanzania and Ethiopia perform better than Ghana's, there must be an administrative issue. We sit down as a nation and act as if everything is fine, even though Ghanaian players are moving to Tanzania and Ethiopia.
According to what I've heard, the league lacks a sponsor and the GFA is having trouble securing support. Given the low caliber of the league, who would want to put their money in it when they could sponsor Date Rush instead?
On Friday, June 24, 2022, Nana Obiri Boahen said on Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay 101.7 FM, "It's not like I'm talking against them, but the caliber of the league is really low."
