"Rüdiger had his pick of big clubs and chose the challenge of Real Madrid," says Florentino Pérez
Antonio Rüdiger was introduced as a Real Madrid player on Monday, and the center-back held an introductory press conference at Valdebebas. Prior to that, club president Florentino Pérez spoke and discussed the player's arrival.
"This is another of those special days at Real Madrid, when a player who will make us stronger arrives," he began. This player is incredible and puts his heart and soul into every game. He is talented enough to play for the best club in the world. So, today, we welcome Antonio Rüdiger, one of the best defenders in the world."
Pérez also discussed how the Germany international should fit into Carlo Ancelotti’s group, "We're going to keep fighting for all possible titles, with humility and ambition," he said. We want to strengthen our squad as we work toward this goal. Remember that everything we accomplished last season was the result of sacrifice, as we gave everything in every game and never gave up. As Carlo Ancelotti stated, the group we have consists primarily of great Madridistas who understand what it means to play for Real Madrid. "We've added another great footballer to our team."
To conclude, Pérez addressed Rüdiger and discussed how he chose Real Madrid over several other clubs. "Dear Antonio, you now belong to a unique family and club, the club of 14 European Cups," he said. We're all thrilled to have a player like you, especially since you went out of your way to come here. You could have chosen any of the big clubs, but you chose this badge and to come to the Bernabéu, where the crowd will give you the energy to achieve incredible feats. You're now a Real Madrid player. You've chosen the most difficult challenge of your career. You'll quickly understand what Real Madrid is and how it relates to life."
"This is a huge club, and I enjoy the pressure," Rüdiger says.
"The most important thing at Real Madrid is winning, as evidenced by the titles and Champions Leagues they've won over the years," the defender said.
Antonio Rüdiger appeared in his first press conference as a new Real Madrid player.
"The most important thing here is winning," the German defender reflected, "as evidenced by the titles and Champions League trophies they've won over the years." Even when there are doubts outside the club, Real Madrid has been able to achieve incredible things."
"The game I played with Chelsea at the Bernabéu was special because it was so intense." It was my first visit to the Santiago Bernabéu. The game went well for the team, and it was a fantastic feeling for me. There was still a really positive vibe after the third goal. I came away with incredible feelings, and the opportunity to play for a club like this is incredible."
