Thysse, Knapp meet in rematch
Brandon Thysse and Roarke Knapp meet in their hotly anticipated rematch at Emperors Palace close to Kempton Park on Saturday night, in a conflict for the ABU Africa junior middleweight title.
Their most memorable battle, likewise at Emperors Palace on 30 November 2019, transformed into a genuine slugfest until Thysse won on a knockout at 2 minutes and 10 seconds into the seventh round.
Since his triumph over Knapp, Thysse (14-2-1; 12), from Germiston, has scored prevails upon Boyd Allen (ko 3) and Toni Silvennoinen (ko 10).
The 24-year-old Knapp (13-1-1; 11) has recuperated after his misfortune to Thysse and has won against Tristin Truter (technical knockout 2), Simon Dladla (ko 1), Bensit Makangila (rtd 2), and Cristino Ndombassy (rtd 5).
Forecast
This could develop into one more slugfest with the gutsy Knapp doing his absolute best, yet might he at any point reverse the situation on Thysse, who is the more controlled contender. The chances are that Thysse could by and by win inside the distance in the center rounds.
Principal SUPPORTING BOUT
On a similar card, the 28-year-old Joshua Pretorius (9-5; 5) makes the principal guard of his South African and African Boxing Union heavyweight titles against the 27-year-old southpaw Chris Thompson (11-2-1; 7).
Pretorius, from Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal, showed great structure and endurance in his triumphant battle against shielding South African heavyweight champion Juan Roux on 26 March this year at Emperors Palace.
Thompson, 27, who battles from the southpaw position has gathered a record of 11-2-1; 7. He made a trip to Dar-Es-Salaam in his latest battle, as per Boxrec, and battled to a greater part draw against the relative fledgling Shafic Kiwanuka.
The chances are that Thompson should lift his game against Pretorius if he has any desire to take the titles.
