Mahama Is Being Too Diplomatic with Akufo-Addo – Kwadwo Jantuah.

Broadcast journalist Nana Kwadwo Jantuah of Nhyira FM made a striking remark on June 6, 2025, during an appearance on Kankam Boadu’s political show, The BKB.

Jantuah argued that former President John Mahama is being excessively diplomatic in his dealings with President Nana Akufo-Addo. He suggested that Mahama should adopt a more assertive, even combative, approach—what he referred to as “mafia tactics”—akin to those the NPP allegedly used against Mahama when he was in opposition. In this context, “mafia” implies employing calculated political maneuvers or power plays.

“With Nana Akufo-Addo, President Mahama has been too diplomatic. He should ‘mafia’ him just like they did to him—and I’m glad certain things are beginning to unfold,” Jantuah stated. “You know why? Because the NPP did the exact same things when they were in power.”

He continued, “There was a time I would have defended the NPP, but not anymore. People like me warned them to be cautious in their treatment of John Mahama because politics can swing both ways. But they ignored all advice. At one point, they believed everything Nana Akufo-Addo did was right, even when it wasn’t.”

Jantuah further criticized what he described as selective application of the law, citing the dismissal of former Auditor General Daniel Domelevo by President Akufo-Addo, while Attorney General Godfred Dame allegedly engaged in greater misconduct under the same legal framework.

“Since the NPP has done terrible things to the NDC, Mahama should respond in kind,” Jantuah concluded. “If there’s going to be peace, both sides must feel the impact of ‘mafiarism.’ That’s the only way they’ll stop attacking each other.”

Jantuah also revealed that he receives over 100 attacks daily from NPP supporters because of his objective stance, all of which he has reported to the police.

As a respected journalist and host of Nhyira FM’s morning show in Kumasi, Jantuah is known for his unfiltered commentary on Ghana’s political landscape. His latest remarks highlight deepening tensions between the country’s two major political parties and reflect ongoing debates about fairness, accountability, and political retaliation.
