In a surprising turn of events, the Chief Executive Officer of Nations FC, Samuel Anim Addo, has resigned from his position following the club's dramatic collapse in the final stretch of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. The announcement was confirmed on Monday, just a day after the league concluded with Nations FC missing out on their first-ever title in heart-wrenching fashion.
Nations FC, one of the newest and most ambitious clubs in Ghanaian football, had spent much of the season at the top of the table and were widely tipped to clinch the championship. However, a string of disappointing results in the final five matches saw them relinquish their lead, eventually finishing third behind Medeama SC and champions Asante Kotoko.
In a brief statement, Anim Addo expressed deep disappointment over the team’s late-season collapse, taking full responsibility for what he described as a “painful ending to a promising season.” He thanked the club's players, technical team, and fans for their support throughout his tenure and emphasized the need for reflection and restructuring.
“This decision did not come lightly. I believe the club needs new energy and leadership to move forward after this setback,” he said.
Under his leadership, Nations FC enjoyed a meteoric rise, earning promotion to the top flight in 2023 and quickly establishing themselves as serious contenders. The club also made significant investments in infrastructure, player development, and fan engagement—moves that had earned praise from both local and international observers.
However, critics have pointed to inconsistent managerial decisions and poor squad rotation as key factors in their late-season falter. The pressure on the leadership intensified after a 2-1 home loss to Berekum Chelsea in the penultimate round, which ultimately cost them the title.
Club officials have yet to name a replacement, but sources indicate that a reshuffle of the entire management team could be underway as the club prepares for the 2025/26 season.
As Nations FC now looks to regroup and refocus, the sudden departure of Anim Addo marks the end of a bold chapter in the club’s young history—one that promised much but ended in heartbreak.
