Arsenal Advancing in Talks for Benjamin Šeško: A Potential Game-Changer for the Gunners

Arsenal are making significant progress in negotiations to sign Slovenian striker Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig, sources have confirmed. Talks between all parties — Arsenal, RB Leipzig, and the player’s representatives — have accelerated over the past week, with optimism growing that a deal could be reached in the near future. While no agreement is expected imminently, momentum is clearly building, and the deal has entered what is considered the “crucial stages.”

Mikel Arteta has long admired the 21-year-old forward, who is seen as a dynamic attacking option with huge potential. With Gabriel Jesus struggling for form and injuries impacting squad depth, Šeško could offer the Gunners a powerful, direct alternative at the tip of their attack. His blend of pace, physicality, and finishing ability aligns well with Arsenal’s fast-paced, possession-heavy style.

Šeško’s 2024/2025 Stats: A Breakout Year

Šeško’s stock has risen sharply this season thanks to his impressive performances in both the Bundesliga and on the European stage. In the 2024/2025 campaign, Šeško played a total of 42 matches across all competitions, notching 22 goals and 6 assists — his most productive season to date.

In the Bundesliga alone, the 6'5" striker scored 17 goals in 31 appearances, becoming one of the league’s top scorers. His goals-per-game ratio (0.55) puts him in elite company, surpassing the likes of more experienced attackers. Notably, many of Šeško’s goals came in key matches — including winners against Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen — underlining his ability to deliver under pressure.

His efficiency in front of goal has also improved dramatically. Šeško’s shot conversion rate stands at 23%, showing a sharp uptick from the previous season. He's also averaging 1.9 key passes per 90 minutes, reflecting his increased involvement in link-up play and creativity — traits Arteta highly values in a modern forward.

In the UEFA Champions League, Šeško contributed 4 goals and 1 assist in 7 appearances, helping Leipzig reach the Round of 16. His standout performance came against Atlético Madrid, where he scored twice in a dramatic 3-2 win.

Beyond the stats, Šeško’s tactical versatility has been another highlight. While primarily deployed as a central striker, he has occasionally operated from wider positions or in a front two, showcasing his adaptability — a quality that could prove invaluable in Arsenal’s fluid attacking system.

Looking Ahead

Should Arsenal finalize the deal, Šeško would represent a significant investment in both the present and future. With a reported release clause in the region of €65 million, the Gunners would be making a major statement of intent ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

While the deal is not expected to be finalized this weekend, the feeling within the club is one of quiet confidence. Šeško is seen as a priority target, and if Arsenal are able to fend off competition from other European giants, it could mark one of the standout signings of the summer window.

Stay tuned — this could be a transformative move for Arsenal’s attack.
