Hubert Gyau, a recent addition to Asante Kotoko, has apologized publicly for a contentious remark that angered the team's fervent supporters.

After just one season with the Porcupine Warriors, the midfielder, who recently signed a four-year contract with Berekum Chelsea, came under fire for implying in an interview that he intended to seek "greener pastures."

After the comments went viral on social media, many supporters began to doubt Gyau's loyalty to Kotoko. Gyau addressed the matter and expressed his sincere regret on AllSportsGh Xtra, a YouTube sports site, in response to growing criticism.

"I want to express my heartfelt regret for what I said previously. I never meant to be disrespectful to the team or its fans," Gyau said. "During my four years here, I am totally dedicated to giving it my all and assisting Asante Kotoko in being successful."

Gyau's apology appears to be a positive step toward restoring fan faith as the squad prepares for the new season, despite the organization not yet issuing an official statement.

The 23-year-old midfielder took advantage of the occasion to introduce himself to the Kotoko supporters, putting aside the dispute. Because of his physical presence and adaptability, Gyau is known among his colleagues as "Camavinga." Gyau characterizes his style of play as being more like that of Spanish maestro Andrés Iniesta, which is cunning, clever, and technically sound.

He made a distinction between his physical likeness to the Real Madrid great and the skill he brings to the field when he said, "They call me Camavinga, but I play like Iniesta."

Gyau also reflected on his football career, which was marked by tenacity and consistent advancement through the Ghanaian football leagues.

"I began playing football at Kintampo FC before relocating to Unity FC in Ahafo, Kenyasi. I then joined Nkoranza Warriors, which subsequently changed its name to Berekum City. After earning a transfer to Berekum Chelsea, I am now happy to be with Asante Kotoko.

Hubert Gyau is committed to letting his actions speak louder than his words now that he is wearing the recognizable red jersey.
