Barcelona isn’t ready to give up on landing Luis Diaz, even though
Liverpool’s made it pretty clear they’re not interested in selling.
Director of Football Deco has put Diaz at the top of their wish list
this summer, though there are some serious doubts about whether they can
come up with a strong enough offer to make it happen.
Liverpool
seems a bit puzzled by all the buzz surrounding Diaz, especially since
there’s interest from Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia too. But honestly,
they’re not looking to part ways with him. Just the other day, it came
out that Barcelona has started talks about Diaz, only to be rebuffed by
Liverpool, who made their position clear.
But you know how this game
goes—Barcelona is unlikely to back off easily. Marca pointed out that
they know Diaz is eager to don the blue and red in Catalonia under Hansi
Flick. They’ve taken Liverpool’s rejection in stride, seeing it as just
another move in the ongoing negotiation chess match.
At
28, Diaz has two years left on his contract with Liverpool, but there’s
been no progress on a new deal, which means Liverpool’s stance probably
won’t budge anytime soon. Interestingly, they’ve recently set a market
value for Diaz, even though they’re not really open to a sale. Reports
suggest they value him around €85 million, while Barcelona thinks they
can snag him for about €70 million.
Still,
Barcelona is getting ready for a scenario where Diaz might slip through
their fingers. They’re eyeing Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as a
primary alternative, and he could be a more budget-friendly option.
They’re hoping for a loan deal with an option to buy, and it helps that
Rashford has made it clear he’s willing to push for a move to Barcelona.
