Bayern Munich wants to sign Bayer Leverkusen Jonathan Tah as a free agent. According to reports by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the club has already internally approved the salary offer and other details to be offered to the German defender.

Tah has also been in contact with Barcelona since last December, but nothing concrete happened. Bayern Munich are now waiting to get the green light from the player. Recall that Tah, who spent 10 years at Leverkusen, revealed that he won't be extending his contract but would be leaving as a free agent.

Bayern Munich’s offer to Tah is a bid to weaken local rivals while strengthening their own squad. Recall that Bayer Leverkusen was the only club to end Munich’s decade-long reign of winning the Bundesliga, with the club going 53 games unbeaten and winning their first-ever Bundesliga.

Bayern has also made an offer to Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, though with Man City in the race, the situation remains open. However, Bayer Leverkusen, since they have full control of Wirtz as he is still under contract, would rather prefer to sell him abroad than strengthen local rivals.

Leverkusen finished second this season with Bayern Munich winning the Bundesliga. Despite that, Leverkusen served as the only real contenders against Bayern Munich. Despite unsuccessfully defending their title, Leverkusen still knocked out Munich from the DFB-Pokal Cup.

However, despite internal agreements within the club, the onus still lies on Tah to say yes or no to Bayern after spending 10 years at Leverkusen.

If Tah agrees to go to Bayern Munich, he could possibly pair with Josip Stanišić or Hiroki Itō. Bayern has offered him a three-year deal, according to reports. However, it remains to be seen whether Tah would go to his former club's direct rivals or would go elsewhere. With Bayern Munich, however, he is assured of at least winning the Bundesliga for one season or even more with Bayern’s squad of Jamal Musiala, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane up front.
