TGMA Artist of the Year: "I Believe My Work Spoke for Itself" – King Promise

King Promise has now cemented his name in the annals of Ghanaian music history after emerging victorious in the highly coveted Artist of the Year category at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA). The win, which has been touted by numerous fans and industry stakeholders as long overdue, came after years of consistent growth, hit songs, and strong local and global presence.

In giving his acceptance speech, a teary-eyed but composed King Promise thanked his fans, his team, and everyone who believed in his journey. "This award means the world to me," he stated. "It's been a long journey with its highs and lows, but I believe my music spoke for me. I've stayed true to my sound and my vision, and I'm glad it resonated with so many souls.".

The "Terminator" phenomenon has had an incredible year, with hit singles, sold-out shows across Europe and Africa, and a critically acclaimed album that showcased his artistic development. His distinctive Afrobeat and highlife blend, coupled with relatable lyrics and slick, well-practiced performances, are credited by many with propelling him to Ghanaian music's A-list.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, King Promise reiterated that his win was a result of focus, consistency, and interaction with his audience. "I did not campaign much for this. I did not need to. I just focused on creating good music, and I'm thankful people noticed that," he said.

His win is a twist in the TGMA narrative, signaling a growing appetite for artistry instead of hype. The win was hailed by fans across all social media platforms, calling it a "win for real talent" and praising King Promise for his humility and work ethic.

While he basks in the glory of his new award, King Promise is already planning ahead. He gave sneak peeks of international collaborations in the pipeline and a world tour to further take Ghanaian music to the world stage. "This is where we begin. There's much more I'd want to do, not just for myself but Ghanaian music at large," he suggested.

With this feat, King Promise has not only achieved one of the biggest awards in Ghanaian music but has also set a new standard for what it means to let the music do the talking.
