After leaving the national team camp to help his team by scoring a late equaliser, Jerry Afriyie is now set to return to the camp in Egypt to help them play against the host nation in the quarter finals of the under 20 Afcon competition that comes off on the 12th of May 2025. He was the same player who provided the all important assist to the goal against Senegal in the group stage. Jerry Afriyie would bring more experience to this game as he has played for the black stars and even has a goal for the national team.
The Respondent then added that the Referees, Match Commissioner, Security and independent
observers who were present on the day of the incident can be consulted to determine the outcome
of the matter.
In his report, the Referee for the match Eric Kornie stated that in the 87
th minute of the match,
officials of Dixcove SC in the persons of Ben Adams (Assistant Coach), Francis Davids
(Trainer), Benjamin Appiah (Equipment Officer) and John Eshun (Assistant Physiotherapist)
invaded the pitch to stop the restart of play and ordered their players to leave the field of play
after Abdulai Lukeman (No.10) of Dixcove SC received a second yellow card that resulted in a
Red card. The Referees waited on the field for the end of the match and additional eighteen
(18)minutes yet Dixcove SC never returned for the continuation of the match and as a result he
whistled to end the match.
Also, the Match Commissioner, Miriam Awanor in her report, corroborated the above facts of
the Referee in his report that the match was abandoned because officials of Dixcove SC invaded
the pitch to stop the restart of play and ordered their players to leave the field of play after
Abdulai Lukeman (No.10) of Dixcove SC received a second yellow card that resulted in a Red
card and this caused an abrupt end to the match.
