After being ban from football for 3 years and even holding on to his international transfer certificate(ITC), the former Karela united and Asante Kotoko player Solomon Sarfo Taylor together with his management took the issue to CAS, the court of arbitration for sport. Where he sort to clear his name from that shame. Not long after reaching there CAS upheld the ban last year and has brought further punishments on the Ghana football association. The biggest from them is a fine of CHF 4,000 which is equivalent to 63,395.03 Ghanaian Cedi. And the FA would bear 80% of the money Sarfo Taylor spent on the whole process. And below is the ruling that the Court put out. Please try and read carefully.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport rules that:
1. The appeal filed by Solomon Safo Taylor on 5 November 2024 against the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association of 29 May 2024 is partially upheld.
2. The decision of the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association of 29 May 2024 is set aside.
3. Solomon Safo Taylor's claim against the Ghana Football Association for damages is dismissed.
4. The costs of the arbitration, to be determined and served to the Parties by the CAS Court. Office, shall be borne for 20% (twenty per cent) by Solomon Safo Taylor and for 80% (eighty per cent) by the Ghana Football Association.
5. The Ghana Football Association shall bear its own costs and is ordered to pay to Solomon Safo Taylor the total amount of CHF 4,000 (four thousand Swiss Francs) as a contribution towards his legal fees and other expenses incurred in connection with these arbitration proceedings.
6. All other and further motions or requests for relief are dismissed. From the 6th point it shows that CAS did not give Taylor all that he wanted but he as a player is now happy that he is a free player who can sign for a team or even if he won't play again, his name is clean from any controversy.
