Minister of Defence Highlights Tinubu’s 2024 Security and Economic Gains

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has announced that over 8,000 terrorists and bandits were eliminated in 2024 under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership. He attributed these successes to the renewed security strategies and firm leadership provided by the current administration.

According to a statement released by Patience Ituke on behalf of the Ministry of Defence’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Matawalle said the military and security agencies also arrested more than 11,600 criminals and recovered over 10,000 illegal weapons during the year. He described these results as key indicators of the Tinubu administration’s commitment to national security and stability.

Matawalle believes these achievements, particularly in tackling insecurity, will boost the President’s chances for a second term in 2027. He praised Tinubu’s strategic reforms, stating they are laying the foundation for a more secure and prosperous Nigeria.

The Minister also highlighted the creation of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell, which he said has improved coordination among security agencies and strengthened the fight against kidnapping. He pointed to this as a vital component of the administration’s holistic approach to tackling criminal activities.

Beyond security, Matawalle applauded Tinubu’s economic reforms, especially the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development. He noted that the new ministry is already contributing to lower grain prices and enhanced agricultural productivity, particularly in northern Nigeria. This initiative, according to him, is helping to unlock the region’s agricultural potential, promote economic growth, and uplift millions of Nigerians.

In terms of infrastructure, the Minister pointed to ongoing road construction and transportation upgrades as further evidence of the administration’s focus on long-term development. These efforts, he said, are especially impactful in underserved communities, contributing to economic expansion and national integration.

Matawalle expressed strong confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, stating that the reforms currently underway will yield lasting benefits for the country. While acknowledging that a second-term victory is based on continued performance, he emphasized that the President’s vision and initiatives are already positively impacting the lives of Nigerians.
