Real Madrid are expected to part ways with long-time coach Carlo Ancelotti following a series of defeats this season, including a disgraceful 5-1 loss to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. Additionally, the team has failed to win any of the El Clásico matches played so far.

Ancelotti is under contract with Madrid until December 2026. According to renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti was expected to take over as the new coach of Brazil, with an agreement in principle. However, the deal fell through after Ancelotti demanded a "compensation fee" from Real Madrid, and the club refused to pay, instead asking him to leave for free.

Many Real Madrid fans are upset, asking why club president Florentino Pérez won’t just pay the fee to get rid of Ancelotti. Some are even wondering if Real Madrid is in financial trouble. This is partly because the club refused to sign new defenders, leaving Antonio Rudiger to play with a bandaged knee and putting too much pressure on players like David Alaba and Ferland Mendy, who are often not fully fit.

Madrid has also been focusing on signing free agents instead of buying players under contract, which makes people think the club might be having money problems.

Despite the failed deal with Brazil, the likelihood of Ancelotti continuing as Real Madrid's coach seems extremely low.

With the team’s poor performance, it’s hard to imagine him continuing as coach.

Brazil now seems to be looking at Jorge Jesus, the 70-year-old Al-Hilal coach, as their next manager.

As for Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen coach and former Madrid player Xabi Alonso is at the top of their priority list to replace Ancelotti. It’s interesting that Alonso once played under Ancelotti at Madrid.

Alonso had an amazing run with Bayer Leverkusen last season. When he joined, the team was near relegation, but he led them on an unbeaten run to secure their first-ever Bundesliga title and ended Bayern Munich's long reign of "terror" . Bayer Leverkusen became known as "NeverLusen" due to their comebacks.

This season, despite Bayern Munich being on course to win the Bundesliga, Alonso's team is in second place and has already secured a UEFA Champions League spot for next season, despite being knocked out in the Round of 16 by Munich.

Bayer Leverkusen's sporting director confirmed that Alonso has a gentleman's agreement with the club: if teams that Alonso has played for, like Liverpool or Real Madrid, come for him, Bayer Leverkusen will not stand in his way.
