The Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) chapter of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Ho, has written to the Student Representative Council (SRC) to express deep concern regarding the recent significant increase in school fees for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The letter highlights the adverse impact of the fee hike on students, citing the disproportionately high increment and lack of sufficient consultation with students. Tertiary Education Institutions Network University (TEIN) of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) urges the  Student Representative Council (SRC) to take immediate action to address the issue, proposing the following measures:

1. Engagement with University Management: We urge the e Student Representative Council  (SRC) to engage in urgent dialogue

with the university administration to negotiate the school fees increment and seek a reduction or a more reasonable adjustment that reflects the economic realities of the student body.

2. Transparency and Communication: The e Student Representative Council (SRC) should demand greater transparency from the

university regarding the reasons for the fee increment. We also urge the council to keep the students well-informed throughout this process, ensuring that the voices and concerns of the student body are heard and respected.

3. Exploration of Alternative SolutionsThe SRC should explore and present alternative

solutions to mitigate the impact of the fee increment on students, such as scholarship opportunities, student loans, or a more flexible payment plan.

4. Student Mobilization: We encourage the SRC to take proactive measures to mobilize the student body in voicing their concerns, ensuring that the university understands the gravity of the situation and the potential negative consequences on students' academic progress.

TEIN UHAS emphasizes the SRC's responsibility to act in the best interest of the student body and advocate for fair policies. The chapter trusts that the SRC will treat this issue with urgency and take steps to protect students' rights and welfare.
