Samuel Inkoom, a former player for the Ghana Black Stars, has been granted bail of GH₵100,000 with two sureties by an Accra court after being accused of visa fraud. The court, led by Mrs. Susana Eduful, also required that each surety have a minimum monthly income of GH₵5,000, and Inkoom was instructed to deposit a passport-sized photograph with the court registry. Inkoom stands accused of taking $4,000 from Madam Elizabeth Atarime Mboh Awuni, an entrepreneur, under the pretense that he could secure a U.S. visa for her client. However, Inkoom has denied the allegations, asserting that he had forwarded the money to a partner in the United States for the visa process. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 22, 2025.

The incident began in December 2023, when Madam Awuni met Inkoom while scouting young footballers at Achimota. During their conversation, Inkoom allegedly claimed that he worked in the travel and tour industry and could secure U.S. and Canadian visas within six weeks for a fee of $4,000. Convinced by his claims, Madam Awuni paid the money for the visa application. Additionally, Madam Abigail Owusu, a public servant from Oyarifa in Accra, separately met Inkoom and also paid $2,000 for the same purpose. However, Inkoom failed to deliver the visas within the promised time frame and allegedly went into hiding, raising suspicions among the victims.

Upon further investigation, the police discovered that Inkoom did not have any partner in the U.S. to facilitate the visa process, as he had claimed. Despite admitting to receiving the money, he was unable to provide any proof of his alleged partnership. Consequently, the police charged Inkoom with defrauding the victims, and a portion of the money was recovered. $2,000 was returned to Madam Awuni, while the case proceeded to court. Inkoom has denied all charges, and the investigation has continued. As the case is adjourned until January 2025, the legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the accusations against him.
