The supreme court has been in the headlines of news over the last weekend as it made a shocking ruling over a parliamentary affair. The court on Friday presided over a petition submitted by the leader of the NPP caucus on the issue of declaration of vacant seats in parliament. This sudden declaration named the NDC as the new majority which caused massive stir all over. The court after presiding on the petition ordered the speaker of parliament to overturn his decisions and also give back the declared vacant seats to their respective occupants till the end of their tenure. This new development sparked heated arguments online as many questions which was directed to inquiring into the transparency of our judicial system was the most of all.
A video of the chief justice, Her Ladyship Getrude Torkonoo preaching in church last Sunday at the ICGC (International Central Gospel Church) has caused heated arguments all over. In a post sighted on the official twitter page of TV3 Ghana confirms the validity of the post. In the video, she was heard and seen ministering to the congregation and saying some prayers. She also admitted that the week has been in the eye of the storm and appealed to her senior pastor to pass the cup by her (she should let another person deliver the word). The above statement was in relation to the recent happening on Friday in the supreme court which made waves all over the country.
